Let me tell you about my mom...

by Katie Moore

My mom is the smartest person I've ever met. No exaggeration. She was a master at Jeopardy and Trivial Pursuit and did daily crossword puzzles. So naturally gifted with intelligence and memory. She is one of the warmest and most compassionate humans you will ever meet. Every creative gene in me is because of her. She has four grown kids and twelve beautiful grandchildren.

She also has Alzheimers.

A diagnosis we did not think would ever become a part of our reality.

She hasn't come out and officially announced this so when it became time to dedicate a person for our Engel and Volkers team, I called her to ask if it was okay if we dedicated it to her and she said, "Yes. I think I'd like that."

She is simply the best.

Every year, our team at Engel & Völkers comes together for something bigger than real estate.

It’s a chance to step outside of transactions and contracts and focus on impact. On community. On showing up for something that truly matters.

This year, for me, it’s deeply personal.

This year, we are dedicating our efforts in the Real Estate Rumble to my mom and her ongoing journey with Alzheimer’s disease. It’s something that I don’t often talk about but I do feel it deeply. Every. Single. Day.

If you’ve ever loved someone with Alzheimer’s, you understand.

It’s not just one moment. It’s a gradual shift. A quiet, ongoing change that touches everything. Memories, conversations, routines, even the simplest parts of daily life.

And yet, there is still so much love in it. So much presence. So many moments that matter.

Walking alongside someone through this kind of journey changes you. It deepens your perspective. It reminds you what’s important in a way that nothing else really can.

Alzheimer’s doesn’t just affect one person. It affects families, caregivers, children, and generations.

It asks more of you than you ever expected to give. And at the same time, it gives you a different kind of clarity about what truly matters.

Supporting research, resources, and care for those navigating this is something that means more to me than I can fully put into words.

If You’re Able to Give

If you feel moved to support this cause, a donation of any amount would truly mean the world. Here is the link to do so: https://events.alz.org/fundraisers/katiemoore/team-e-v.

Whether it’s for research, support services, or simply helping families feel less alone in this journey, every contribution matters more than you might think.

And if donating isn’t something you’re able to do right now, even sharing this or keeping families like mine in your thoughts means more than you know.

A Personal Thank You

To those who have already supported, reached out, or simply been kind, thank you.

This year’s Real Estate Rumble is about more than a fundraiser for me.

It’s about honoring my mom.
It’s about showing up with heart.
And it’s about being part of something that matters beyond ourselves.

Thank you…

Katie (& Terri)
